“Lord, if you measured us and marked us with our sins, who would ever have their prayers answered? But your forgiving love is what makes you so wonderful. No wonder you are loved and worshiped! This is why I wait upon you, expecting your breakthrough, for your word brings me hope. I long for you more than any watchman would long for the morning light. I will watch and wait for you, O God, throughout the night. O Israel, keep hoping, keep trusting, and keep waiting on the Lord, for He is tender hearted, kind, and forgiving. He has a thousand ways to set you free! He himself will redeem you; he will ransom you from the cruel slavery of your sins! Lord, my heart is meek before you. I don’t consider myself better than others. I’m content to not pursue matters that are over my head – such as your complex mysteries and wonders – that I’m not yet ready to understand. I am humbled and quieted in your presence. Like a contender child who rests on its mother’s lap, I’m your resting child and my soul is content in you. O people of God, Your time has come to quietly trust, waiting upon the Lord now and forever.”

Psalm 130:3-131:3

I read these Scriptures this week and just felt this peace and desire to rest and bask in the Lords presence. That’s what I want to share with you this week, “your time has come to quietly trust.”

What are you facing right now? Read these scriptures in your own bible. Highlight them if you’d like, then underline each thing it mentions that you’re facing or needing (example: 130:5 “expecting breakthrough”, 131:3 “quietly trust”, 131:3 “wait upon the Lord”, etc).

Sometimes we get so caught up in our “works” that we forget to sit at His feet, rest, wait on Him, and worship the One who has forgiven us and set us free. Maybe there isn’t anything particularly significant going on in your life, but do you trust Him to take care of the day-to-day? Maybe you’re facing hard times or need to make a decision, maybe there’s a hidden sin of your heart, release it and quietly trust Him.

Sitting quietly or resting is a very difficult thing for me, I don’t know why but I always feel like I have to go, go, go. Recently, every time I pray it just leads to a time of quietly sitting before the Lord. It’s a strange and uncomfortable place for me but I’m learning. I’m also expecting. Through the uncomfortable, through the change, I’m expecting that He is teaching and drawing me nearer. I want to share that with you, too. Draw nearer, sit in His presence, focus on Him.

Forgiveness – Mercy – Grace – Freedom

Bask in His presence, quietly resting in the wonder of who He is.

Journal Prompts:

1. As mentioned before, highlight these scriptures in your bible, underline the portions that stick out to you. Spend some time in His presence, thank Him for His forgiveness and freedom.

2. Write these scriptures in your journal, or take the underlined portions and write a testimony of how God has provided for you.
