“He does what he pleases, with unlimited power and authority, extending his greatness throughout the entire universe! He forms the misty clouds and creates thunder and lightning, bringing the wind and rain out of his heavenly storehouse. He struck down the eldest child in each Egyptian home; both men and beast perished that night. He did great miracles—mighty signs and wonders throughout the land before Pharaoh and all his subjects.”

Psalms 135:6-9 TPT

Look at the way David describes God; unlimited power and authority, extending His greatness throughout the universe, forms the clouds, create thunder and lightning, brings wind and rain, stuck down the eldest child, did great miracles. And we know that those are just a very few things that God can, will, and has done. As I read this today I thought of the many times I’ve worried or been concerned about different areas of my life. I also thought about different people that I know who get worried or concerned. I thought about future things that could take place and worries or fears or “what ifs” that become a focal/obsession point in my thoughts.

Why in the world would I waste time “worrying” about these things when the God who controls the wind and rain, LITERALLY controls the wind and rain, lives in me and is FOR ME?

“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell him every detail of your life, then God’s wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ. So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.”

Philippians 4:6-9 TPT

I think sometimes we read these verses and they become a nice “quote” to think about while we are stressing. We panic and worry and stress and fear but say a few verses and hope that maybe that will help.

NO MORE!

Why waste time on worry? Why waste time on fear? Why waste time on obsessing about things that don’t really matter.

Obviously God takes care of His own. Look at the testimony of how he “struck down the eldest child in the Egyptian home”, look at how He used David to slay Goliath when he was coming against His people, there are so many other examples. So why would we doubt God?

It’s easy to just say these things, it’s more difficult when you’re in the middle of an issue. But why? Why not change that thinking? Why not choose to be different, choose to live differently and have FAITH, have unshakable faith and say No! Worry, fear, doubt, I’ve had enough! I’m SO DONE! And choose to follow Jesus, choose to put your hope in Him.

In Philippians 4 the scriptures say, “be saturated in prayer throughout each day”, “offer your FAITH-FILLED requests before God WITH overflowing gratitude”, “keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and REAL”. Moses communicated directly with God and trusted Him completely, God took care of Him. David communicated with God and trusted Him completely, God took care of Him. See a pattern? Communicate directly with God, trust Him completely. He will take care of you.

What are you facing?

What are you worrying about?

Trust God. Give it to Him. Let Him work it out! What are you asking Him for? Put it in His hands and leave it there! Don’t pick it back up. It may get too close to the deadline for you, it might not look like He’s going to answer for you, it might take longer than you thought. He doesn’t work on your time line. He works on His own.

Faithfully serve, surrender to, and trust Him.

Do you trust Him?

Do you believe Him?

Don’t doubt Him.

  1. A great reminder to us all! It is so easy to focus on our circumstances. I don’t know why we don’t shift that focus to the One who knows and understands! I am guilty of this myself! I pray we keep out eyes on Him and let Him take care of the rest! Blessings!
