I love to read!
I don’t always get the chance to and usually, I start a book, get busy, start another, get busy, and before I know it I’ve got three or four books started that I never finish! I’ve purposed to change that this year, spend less time doing mindless things and fill my time with truth, life, and wisdom.
I actually did the above with this book. I started this book while on my second missions trip to Africa. I remember opening the book while driving on a (very) bumpy Kenyan road from a church up in the mountains. I remember thinking how beautiful it was that I was reading about a lioness while in Africa where there are lions that roam freely. — Not that I saw any, mom! I was totally fine! (hah!) — But it stirred something within me starting this book while I was there. I remember reading some of the pages then put it down once we arrived back. I read a bit on the plane back to America but then got “busy” and didn’t pick it up again.
We are now coming up on the one year mark since that trip to Africa and I’ve now finished the book. I read it in about one month and one week. It’s amazing what you can do when you’re intentional, purposeful, and when it’s God’s timing.
Let’s start with; I highly recommend this book to everyone.
There is something about the title Lion from the tribe of Judah that stirs something within me. I remember as a child in children’s choir we sang a song called Lion of Judah, even then I would feel this excitement within. Then the song “Lion and the Lamb” came out with lyrics like “Our God is a Lion, the Lion of Judah, He’s roaring with power, and fighting our battles, every knee will bow before Him.”
That just makes me SO excited!
I want to share pictures and quotes from the book. I’ve taken pictures of the pages in my book where I’ve highlighted. I will share some about those things but mostly I encourage you to get the book, read for yourself, make your own highlights, Wake Up and Change your World!
I’ve tried to rotate the pictures and fix them. For some reason it won’t allow me to do this. I will continue trying to update this. Sorry for the inconvenience!
“I pray we might each realize that we are truly frightening to our enemy and that he has done everything in his power to contain us.”
“He sedates us so that we ight not do the things God has called us to do. We must wake up, rise up, remember who we are, and confront the evil in this world with light.”
What is sedating you, friend?
I know I have been dealing with some things that have been sedating me. Fear is one of them. Confront whatever this is. Like she said, “wake up, rise up, remember who you are, and confront the evil with light.”
“God does not reveal Himself as limitless in order to limit us. Quite the contrary. He wants to put His heart within us. ‘God did not save you to tame you!'”
“I want to rest unafraid in the sun among sisters, daughters, cousins, and mothers aas we all smile at the young, content with the full understanding that there is nothing in our present environment capable of defeating us.”
“There is no shadow realm of fear for you. There is no shameful, shaded place that can hold sway over your life.”
Amen!
I love this part of the book. She talks about when something awoke inside her, being stirred, and certain that things would never be the same.
What God Dream is so big, so great, so awakening in your heart that it stirs something inside you?
“Ralph Waldo Emerson said, ‘None of us will ever accomplish anything excellent or commanding except when he listens to this whisper which is heard by him alone.'”
“Learn to listen to and for yourself. Don’t ask others to tell you what you alone can hear. In doing so, you give them power over the God-whisper within your heart. Honor what God whispers, and take the time to listen to what He imparts in excellence to you.”
This was so powerful to me. So many times I look for validation from others regarding what God is saying in my life. I usually feel defeated and discouraged because no one is seeing it the same as me, or no one “gets it” like I do, or there just isn’t that validation. Well! Of course not! God whispered it to me! (Not discounting words from the Lord, prophecy, confirmation etc. Read the book!)
Identity. Know who you are in Christ.
