“Go on the adventure of making daily decisions to pursue Him with everything you do. Knowing that no matter what does or does not happen He is still leading you.” Morgan Harper Nichols

We can become so consumed with our day to day life. We have things coming up, we have a schedule, we have a timeline and things planned that we hope will work out. Where do we allow time for Jesus in that plan? If we want to Live God Adventures daily, how can we do that if we are not surrendered, focused on, and in tune with His Spirit? What does it mean to make daily decisions to pursue Him in everything I do? How do I do that when I’m working and doing the same job for X amount of years, or grocery shopping on Saturday, or running errands with kids? You might be busy, distracted, and focusing on other things. But what if in that moment you surrendered. I don’t mean kneel down in the grocery isle and yell “Lord, Here I am!” I mean… if you want to… go ahead… but… that’s not what I mean (haha). I mean while you’re grocery shopping you can talk with the Lord, ask Him if theres someone in the store that needs encouragement. Many times I’ve seen people while shopping that start up a conversation and I’ve been able to pray with them. What about when you’re doing mundane tasks at home, cleaning, doing dishes, washing cloths? There have times where I’ve been doing dishes, I’ll start praying and just talking with the Lord. Some of those times the Lord has given me an idea for a blog or given me a Rhema word from something I was reading in His Word earlier.

Something the Lord has been teaching me is to stop looking so far ahead. Focus on what’s right in front of me, focus on the daily decisions. Maybe you need that reminder, too? There are so many “future” things we could think of or worry about; an appointment next week, an upcoming deadline, staffing, growth, children, family, 20 year future, 1 day future. We really could go on and on. I tend to get these ideas in my head of how things will play out and get frustrated if they don’t.

But the Bible tells us to not be anxious. I love the way the Passion Translation says it.

“Don’t be pulled in different directions or worried about a thing. Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled requests before God with overflowing gratitude. Tell Him every detail of your life.” Philippians 4:6

Now, when I read that, “don’t be pulled in different directions”, I think about my friends and family with several children. I imagine them reading this and thinking “hah! Oh OKAY!” So what does that look like on a practical level? How do we live out not being pulled in different directions when there are so many distractions? How do we not become worried about a thing when we have unsaved loved ones or things coming up next week that are stressing us out. We must learn* to trust* God. When I say learn, I mean learn. Choose each day to make time with Jesus, wake up early, take some time later in the day, when ever it is or whatever it looks like, get with Him. You will make time for what is important to you. How important is your relationship with Jesus? As you seek Him, as you sacrifice your time and get alone with Him you will learn who He is. You will learn His character and your trust will build. As you saturate your day with prayer, speaking to Him throughout your day, surrendering your thoughts, will, emotions, stressors, difficulties, plans, you will find that He is leading you.

We have to make the decision to seek Him and follow Him daily. Choose His peace over worry. Choose time with Him over social media, choose to worship over anger.

Will we trust the Lord with our future?

Will we trust the Lord?

Choose Jesus.

  1. “Something the Lord has been teaching me is to stop looking so far ahead. Focus on what’s right in front of me, focus on the daily decisions.” I can so relate as the Lord has been talking to me about this too! I get so busy planning my future sometimes that I miss growing my relationships, especially with Jesus, in the present. Thank you for sharing and making me feel like I’m not alone in getting distracted by the unimportant and for the encouragement to choose God.

    1. Yes! I actually wrote a post not too long ago titled “focus on today” with that same thought in mind. I get so stuck on the future and “what if’s” but He’s here, today, in the stillness. We just have to be still and listen ♥️♥️

  2. I love talking with the Lord in all the mundane things I do throughout the day! I especially love talking to Him while I am in the shower because my hair takes SO long to wash..so I have nothing to do but stand there in this little closet of a shower LOL So why not use that time to have a conversation with my Father? Same with the dishes! Those are my favorite moments! Great post!

    1. That’s awesome! So often we can put these lines and “rules” of when we can talk with the Lord. I love when people understand that He is with us always and we should “pray continually”. ♥️

  3. Brittany, you have a beautiful gift of relating your God-given thoughts. Thank you so much for sharing. I pray that God opens many doors for you to touch lives in your sphere of influence!

Love and appreciate you so much,
